Weaver Gaines

Chairman of the Board, General Counsel & Founder

Weaver Gaines has more than four decades of entrepreneurial, management and legal experience, including over 25 years founding, financing and managing early-stage life-science companies.

He co-founded and served as CEO of OBMedical, which developed an electronic maternal-fetal monitor, secured FDA clearance and was acquired by Philips Healthcare in 2018. He also chaired Nanotherapeutics, now Ology Bioservices, and founded Ixion Biotechnology, whose probiotic technology was acquired by QMed AB.

Gaines holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. He served as a U.S. Army infantry officer in Vietnam and completed his service with the rank of Captain.

Rick Giancola

Rick Giancola is a life-sciences executive with more than 35 years of experience in business development, strategic growth and neuromodulation. Through Otomed Consulting, he has advised global companies, emerging ventures and investors working across hearing, tinnitus and neurological technologies.

His career includes building Cochlear Americas’ Latin American business, leading Neuromonics and Sophono as CEO and directing commercial, clinical, regulatory, research and education activities across the Americas and EMEA for Nurotron Biotechnology.

Giancola holds an MBA from Syracuse University and a BA from Hobart College and remains active in professional and community organizations.

Richard Ferrari co-founded De Novo Ventures, a medical-device and biotechnology investment firm that managed approximately $650 million. Companies he has directly influenced have raised more than $1 billion and participated in acquisition transactions totaling roughly $1.5 billion.

Ferrari previously led two publicly traded medical-technology companies. Cardiovascular Imaging Systems pioneered ultrasound imaging catheters and was acquired by Boston Scientific for $125 million. CardioThoracic Systems developed minimally invasive beating-heart bypass instruments and was acquired by Guidant for $350 million.

He received the Mallinckrodt Award for Excellence in Medicine and was a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year. Ferrari earned a BS from Ashland University and an MBA from the University of South Florida.

Suha Jhaveri

Outside Director

Suha Jhaveri serves as Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Business Development for Leyden Labs. Her previous roles include Vice President of Market Development at Vir Biotechnology and Global Commercial Leader for New Product Planning at Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical.

Earlier in her career, Jhaveri served as Chief Operating Officer of OBMedical and held management positions with Genentech, Chiron Corporation, Novartis and other therapeutic and medical-device companies. She began her career as a consultant with Boston Consulting Group.

Jhaveri earned an MBA from Harvard University, a master’s degree in economic development from the University of Sussex and a BA with honors from Stanford University.

Stephanie Warrington

Outside Director

Stephanie Warrington is Chief Commercial Officer for Aurita, a 3D bioscience company working to bridge research and clinical settings. She brings more than 25 years of healthcare and medical-device consulting and operating experience.

Warrington previously co-founded and served as a director and president of TrueMotion Spine, led private-equity venture fund Synogen and co-founded and headed corporate development for Xhale, which was acquired by Philips Healthcare. She has helped launch and grow several technology startups and served as chair of BioFlorida.

She earned a BS in business administration, an MBA and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Florida.
